Peoria Proud and partner organizations will be holding their first LGBTQ+ Holiday Potluck.
The event is being hosted in partnership with Central Illinois FRIENDS, Central Illinois Pride, PFLAG Peoria, and Positive Health Solutions.
The event is purposed to honor the value that chosen family plays in the daily lives of all individuals. In a press release, the organization said there are many within the LGBTQ community who have been ostracized from their families of origin due to their gender identity, gender expression, or sexuality. Because of that, the holidays is oftentimes a difficult time.
“We invite the community to join us for this Holiday Potluck to celebrate the season within an inclusive and safe environment,” the group said.
The event will be held on Saturday, Dec. 17, from 4 to 8 p.m. at Trailside Event Center at 4416 N Prospect Rd in Peoria Heights.
Attendees are asked to bring a dish to share, but main dishes and place settings will be provided. A cash bar will be available. The event is free.
