A new reproductive services clinic opened in Rockford last week.

The Rockford Register Stahttps://www.rrstar.com/story/news/2023/01/09/abortion-services-return-to-rockford-for-first-time-in-a-decade/69786201007/r reported that the opening means access to abortion services in the city for the first time in a decade.

According to the newspaper, the clinic is operated by obstetrician, gynecologist and abortion provider Dr. Dennis Christensen of Wisconsin and managed by Meg Larkin of Rockford with the help of a registered nurse. It saw its first patient last Friday.

“Our website just went up, people are just starting to hear of us and we expect things to move quickly once word gets out,” Larkin told the Register Star.

The facility offers pregnancy dating and confirmation, pregnancy counseling, first-trimester abortion medication, referrals for a second trimester surgical abortion and referrals for prenatal care if desired, according to its website at rfd-familyplanning.com.

Appointments are available on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and on Saturday mornings.

The clinic is the latest to open or expand in Illinois since the overturn of Roe v. Wade last summer. New clinics have also opened in Southern Illinois near St. Louis and the Kentucky state line. Others in Waukegan and Champaign have expanded to handle the increase of out-of-state patients.
