The Southern Illinois University (SIU) LGBT Resource Center is co-hosting a screening of “Paris Is Burning” with the SIU School of Theater and Dance on Thursday, Feb. 2.
“Paris Is Burning” is a 1990 documentary film directed by Jennie Livingston. Filmed in the mid-to-late 1980s, it chronicles the ball culture of New York City and the African-American, Latino, gay, and transgender communities involved in it.
The screening and a discussion will be at the SIU Student Center Auditorium at 7 p.m. Admission is free.
The screening is being co-sponsored by the Morris Library and Office of Student Engagement.
