Will County’s chapter for the National Organization of Women (NOW) is hosting a discussion on the Elevated Access organization.
Elevated Access works to provide access to gender-affirming and reproductive healthcare to people in areas that do not have access locally.
The organization’s work connects people needing travel assistance with volunteer pilots, and sometimes airline tickets, to transport them for free. Before the Dobbs case draft opinion leaked in early May 2022, the organization had three pilots. They now have more than 1,000 pilots wanting to join its nationwide network of volunteers assisting people traveling to access healthcare.
The discussion will be with Mike Bonanza, one of the founders of Elevated Access, on Wednesday, Feb. 15. Topics will include how the group started, their mission and how it can be supported. There will be a Q&A period during the last 15 minutes.
The meeting will on Zoom with registration needed. It will be recorded and made available on Will County’s NOW YouTube channel a few days afterwards.
