SPRINGFIELD – Black Lives Matter SPI (BLM SPI) is hosting their fourth annual “Black Lives Matter Solidarity Procession” on Saturday, May 27.
The procession is for Breonna Taylor, Reasjon Reed and George Floyd along with the other men and women killed by law enforcement.
BLM SPI said in their announcement that they continue to meet with police for transparency, relationship repair and building, and community engagement.
The car procession line up begins at 12 p.m. with the program starting at 12:30. BLM SPI will also announce their scholarship winners. The procession begins at 1 p.m.
To join, meet at the 9th & Adams parking lot across from the BOS Center at 12 p.m. A member of BLM SPI will help facilitate the vehicle lineup. The Car Procession will begin after opening remarks and a short program.
A map of the procession route will be posted on the Facebook event. There will also have paper maps on hand if needed. Follow the route and instructions provided to ensure the safety of all participants and Springfield residents. Participants are expected to follow all traffic lights and signs while en route.
People are encouraged to decorate their vehicles and create signs to show love, support and hope for the cause. If you live along the route, come out to see the procession, wave signs and show your support.
