Rockford’s LIAM Foundation holding furniture fundraiser

The LGBTQ support organization is getting ready to move into their new home.

ROCKFORD – The LIAM Foundation is raising money to furnish their new physical location in Rockford.

The LIAM Foundation is an LGBTQ service organization for Northern Illinois that assists people with legal name changes, transportation to and from medical or legal appointments, hormone replacement therapy, medical co-pays, and more.

They also offer programs and support groups such as the Adult Peer Group, DiverCity Youth Group, In Transition for nonbinary and transgender adults and the Trans Teen Meet Up.

The foundation offers diversity training for organizations and businesses as well.

The group closed on a new space for support groups and administration in May and plan to move in during July.

Their fundraiser has a goal of $5,000 with $1,171 raised as of July 2. Money raised will go to furniture and fixtures for the new space. The LIAM Foundation wish list includes a refrigerator, bathroom lighting and mirror, benches and seating for our patrons and clients, and desks.

People who are able to can donate here.
