ALTON – Alton Pride received a $1,065 donation from a local business last week.

GCS/Revity Credit Union, a local credit union, collected donations from their staff through their Smiles for Jeans program. The internal program lets GCS staff wear jeans and tennis shoes to work on Fridays and Saturdays with a $15-$20 donation.

“Each month, GCS picks a nonprofit organization to donate the funds to,” said interim Alton Pride Sponsorship Director Barry Church. “For the month of June, GCS dedicated their donations to Alton Pride!”

Church said the donation will go to all of Alton Pride’s outreach programs, community events including the festival, and daily operations.

The Alton Pride Festival is on Saturday, Sept. 9.
