GENEVA – Belong: Fox Valley is needing people to be ready for emergency painting of the Priderant.
The Priderant is a fire hydrant that’s been painted in Pride colors. It has also become the regular target of anti-LGBTQ graffiti, especially in the past year.
Belong: Fox Valley co-chair Caleb Anderson said that the hydrant was painted as part of the city’s Art On Fire program. The design was created and painted by Chrissy Swanson.
The group has promised to keep the Priderant bright, including buying paint in bulk.
But you need painters to use the paint. So Belong is putting out a call for on-call Priderant painters.
“We need on-call painters to help us with Pridrant until the Art on Fire Program resumes in fall! For more details and a sign-up form, please visit our Belong: Fox Valley Discussion Group,” the organization said in a Facebook post.
If you’re not already a member of the discussion group, you will need to fill out a quick form for membership.
