Decatur Pride Festival this weekend

DECATUR – The Decatur Pride Festival returns this weekend to Fairview Park.

The event has been held since 2018. It’s been held every year since even with an uptick in opposition last year.

The day long festival will feature performances, food, a pet parade, vendors from around Central Illinois and the Voice of Decatur competition.

The full schedule is:

11 a.m. – Welcome to Pride Fest
11:15 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. – Music
11:45 a.m. to noon – Pet Pride Contest. Arrive 11:30 to sign up.
1 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. – Music
2 p.m. to 3 p.m. – Drag Queen Story Hour, followed by Youth Talent Contest
3:30 p.m. to 4 p.m. – Music
5 p.m. – Voice of Decatur – Singing Competition
6:30 p.m. – Drag Show

After the last event, the drag show, Decatur Pride will hold a commemoration for Astrid Luxe Prater. Prater planned the drag show at the first Decatur Pride and passed away this year.

The festival starts at 11 p.m. at Fairview Park (2095 W Eldorado St.) in Decatur.
