Metro East Pride holding poll for virtual drag show

BELLEVILLE — Metro East Pride is running a poll on their Facebook page to find the interest in doing a virtual drag show on June 6. Metro East Pride’s annual festival has been pushed from June to August. But like many communities, they’re looking at ways to celebrate Pride online. To let them know if you’d be interested in participating, just vote in the poll.

House removes anti-LGBTQ state rep Bailey after he refuses mask

SPRINGFIELD — State Rep. Darren Bailey was removed from the Illinois House’s session on Wednesday after he refused to put on a mask.

The State Journal-Register in Springfield reported that most other representatives wore masks on the floor of the Bank of Springfield Center except to eat box lunches.

The House is meeting at the Bank of Springfield Center instead of the state capitol to allow for social distancing.

Illinois increases penalties for violating order, but push back grows

CHICAGO — On Friday, Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker filed an emergency rule that would increase the penalty for businesses that reopen too early.

According to WTTW, a Chicago PBS station, the change would codify it under Illinois Department of Public Health regulations as a Class A misdemeanor. A Class A misdemeanor is punishable by a fine between $75 and $2,500.

People who are opposing the continuing shelter-in-place orders cried foul.
