April BarkleyWCB Event WriterJohn Barrowman at C2E2Hey geeks of Chicago! C2E2 weekend is over but Windy City Banner has some great coverage to report. So, if you weren’t there, look no further and read all about it! It was like Christmas morning as the Chicago Comic and Entertainment Expo dazzled geeks of the Chicagoland area. I attended every day.
Legendary Entertainment Courtesy of Legendary EntertainmentWhen Legendary Entertainament launched its comics division last year, it was for the opportunity to release stories like the upcoming THE TOWER CHRONICLES. With a lead character created by Legendary founder Thomas Tull, Executive Producer of 300 & The Dark Knight, and developed by Tull and Matt Wagner (Grendel, Mage), THE TOWER CHRONICLES creates a new mythology on familiar worlds through a unique take on the bounty hunter storyline. The all-new IP sets the standard for future releases from Legendary. At C2E2 this past weekend, Bob Schreck, Editor-in-Chief of Legendary Comics, revealed the cover art for the first book of the trilogy (art is attached). Created by Jim Lee the cover showcases the supernatural bounty hunter in a menacing pose following the annihilation of one of his foes. Lee is the first in a line of world famous artists who have created covers for the series, which hits stories this September.Be on the lookout at for more information on THE TOWER CHRONICLES at San Diego Comic-Con.
Tom WrayWCB EditorThe Leather Lair was one of many places my partner and I had visited on the last day of C2E2. It was one of our favorites because the clothing was really cool. And I don’t even like to shop for clothing.
Tom WrayWCB EditorC2E2 is going strong with its second day finished. Panels took place all day today after a relatively quiet first day on Friday. However, we only got to one panel – John Barrowman, star of the BBC and now Starz series Torchwood. No repeat of the last time I met stars from the show (i.e., no squeeing loud enough to wake dogs in Schaumburg) but the weekend is still young. The big fun of any con are the exhibitors, vendors and especially the fans.

Evil Ink ComicsTony Moore (THE WALKING DEAD) incentive coverWriter, creator and Coheed and Cambria frontman Claudio Sanchez will make a guest appearance at Chicago’s Comic and Entertainment Expo April 13-15, where his publishing company, Evil Ink Comics, returns after a very successful visit in 2011.“Last year was our first time doing C2E2 and it was such a great experience all around,” notes Sanchez, “Chicago is one of my favorite cities; the people are very passionate and know what they want. They make us feel totally at home and I can’t wait to be back.”In addition to Evil Ink fan favorite titles The Amory Wars and Kill Audio, copies of the acclaimed Key of Z series have been collected in Trade Paperback, arriving just in time for C2E2! Created and written by Sanchez and Chondra Echert (Kill Audio) with interior art from The Amory Wars’ Aaron Kuder, Key of Z is the story of Nick Ewing, an executive security guard trying to survive in a post-zombie-apocalyptic New York City while seeking revenge on the warring gangs responsible for the death of his family. “The positive response for Key of Z has been inspiring. Fans seem to really gravitate and identify with Ewing, the protagonist and his journaled struggle to come to terms with the enormous life changes that’ve been forced upon him,” Echert explained, “so with the collected series, we wanted to give them some extra content from his perspective.”From BOOM! Studios, the 128-page TPB features all four issues of the series, extra artwork, scripts, bonus pages from Ewing’s journal and a gallery featuring covers from Nathan Fox (Fluorescent Black, DMZ) Declan Shalvey (28 Days Later) and Tony Moore (The Walking Dead.) Sanchez, Echert and Kuder have scheduled signings at 5PM, Friday and Saturday, at Evil Ink Booth #335.
