Arrest made in murder of Muhlaysia Booker

DALLAS — Dallas police announced late Wednesday night that they had arrested a man in connection with three murders, including that of Muhlaysia Booker. In an online press release, police said they’d arrested Kendrell Lavar Lyles, 34, for the murder of Booker and two other women. The release did not release any details of the other women. He had been arrested on June 5 for suspicion in the other murders but details connecting him to Booker came up during investigation. The release said that a witness had called in a tip that lead to the arrest.

Transgender woman in Dallas is identified

DALLAS — Dallas Police have identified a transgender woman who was find in a lake over the weekend. The police said in a Monday afternoon press conference that Chynal Lindsey was found at 5:45 p.m. on Saturday, June 1. The Dallas News reported that her body had signs of “homicidal violence.” She is the seventh transgender person to be killed this year. From the Dallas News:

Transgender woman found in Dallas lake

DALLAS — A transgender woman’s body was found in a Dallas area lake, local media reported. On Monday, the Dallas Voice reported that the body of a black transgender woman was found at White Rock Lake on Saturday. The newspaper reported that the police were not releasing any more details until a Monday afternoon press conference. The woman is the third transgender woman of color to be killed in Dallas since October and the sixth nationally this year. One of the women in Dallas, Muhlaysia Booker, was killed just last month and became a national figure after a video of her being attacked went viral.
