Illinois House passes bill to allow non-binary designation on ID

SPRINGFIELD — The Illinois House of Representatives voted Wednesday to add a non-binary gender designation to state-issued ID cards and drivers licenses. Equality Illinois said on their Facebook page that the bill pass with a vote of 67-38. If passed by the State Senate and signed into law, it would require “non-binary” to be a choice alongside “male” and “female” and included in information on an ID card or driver’s licence. The bill now goes to the Senate. It’s House Bill 3534 “Gender Designations.”
