Henderson, Ky. council to have first vote on fairness ordinance tonight

HENDERSON, Ky. — The city council in Henderson will consider the first reading of a fairness ordinance at its meeting tonight. According to the Henderson Gleaner, the ordinance is aimed at barring discrimination because of gender identity or orientation in employment, housing and public accommodations. A draft version was presented during a meeting earlier this year. However, the Gleaner reported, the version being read tonight includes wording from Kentucky’s version of the Religious Restoration Rights Act.

Henderson, Ky. to make another try for LGBTQ ordinance

HENDERSON, Ky. — Henderson will make another attempt to pass an ordinance against LGBTQ discrimination, the Henderson Gleaner reported Wednesday. The newspaper reported that Henderson Mayor Steven Austin took a poll of the council members, the majority of who supported the idea, on what they call a fairness ordinance. From the Gleaner:

Commissioners Brad Staton, X.R. Royster and Austin Vowels said yes. Commissioner Patti Bugg and Mayor Austin said no.
