Prairie Pride Coalition recommends supporting BloNo Salvation Army branch

BLOOMINGTON — The Prairie Pride Coalition put up a statement on Saturday saying they could recommend supporting the local Salvation Army chapter during the holiday season. PPC made the announcement after talking with the leadership of the Bloomington/Normal Salvation Army. The PPC said this support extended only to the local organization, not the national one. The full statement from their Facebook page:
Almost every year during the holiday season members of our community and their allies question whether they should support the Salvation Army and its red kettles scattered throughout the community. Many of these folks are familiar with the history of the Salvation Army as well as the national organization’s present-day policy that deems our sexual orientations and gender identities incompatible with its religious tenets.

Dining with Friends Cocktail Party in Bloomington

BLOOMINGTON — The Prairie Pride Coalition, Central Illinois Friends and The Bistro will be hosting a cocktail party on Sept. 28 in Bloomington. From the event page:
On Friday, September 28th, 2018 from 5 p.m. – 7 p.m. we will be gathering at The Bistro with all of our allies to raise funds and awareness for people living with HIV in the Bloomington-Normal area. We will have a suggested donation of $20, this includes wines provided by The Bistro and Heavy Appetizers provided by both The Bistro and the Prairie Pride Coalition. Please help us get the word out about this fantastic gathering of allies so we can de-stigmatize what it means living with HIV, to de-stigmatize getting tested for HIV, and to help us get closer to no new HIV diagnosis’s in Illinois.
